Blushing buddhas -- Bambuddha Grove, Ibiza

The goal of Buddha was to achieve Nirvana -- the extinction of attachment. I'm not sure what Buddha would make of his namesake restaurant Bambuddha Grove, because this fabulous, fairy-light-draped frippery in the bush country of Ibiza is a palace of pernicious pleasures.

From the moment you walk into the sumptuous, sensual, silken-draped interior it is reminiscent of being in a sultan's chambers. Invited, perhaps, to some deliciously sinful soiree to tease and tempt the senses. Here at Bambuddha Grove you aren't limited to the usual eat/drink routine. Part of the enticing array of entertainment includes three boutiques offering fashion, jewelry (by none other than island boho princess Jade Jagger) and the naughtily risque Tantra boutique.

You'd be forgiven for forgetting you're here for dinner... but never fear. The wafting scent of sushi and sashimi being sliced, diced and spiced in the background will quickly re-engage your attention to the mouthwatering food on offer. And when you've enjoyed a rich, creamy Thai curry or a seaweed-swathed supper you can move on to the bar where the DJs spin low key tunes in keeping with the sexy vibe and the bartenders get your juices flowing with an exotic blend of flavours -- both shaken and stirred. Hurrah along to Bambuddha Grove... it's a spiritual experience.
